My Students
My students are some of the most amazing I have ever met. They enjoy coming to school and achieving their goals despite struggles at home. Creating art and using their hands allows for them to express their individuality. Several of the students come to school because this is the most "normal" place for them to be each day. I have students come by my class daily to ask for extra snacks, drinks, and supplies to help their day be successful because they are unable to get these items from home. The majority of the students come from low-economical households, students and parents do not have the financial means to provide essentials for their child.
My Project
Students today have so many things to worry about from life at home, grades, work, siblings etc. I want to make it easy for those who can not afford to bring extra snacks with them to school each day. Many of them receive free breakfast and lunch but this is not usually enough for the average high school students. I have students who stop by my class each day asking for something to eat. Having items that are easy, grab and go snacks makes it easy for students to keep going to their next class. Our pantry is running low on these snacks such as juice, chips, healthy bars, natural gummies, and more would provide more of a variety.
