This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate Di Camillo is an engaging read for all students. My current class set has been “loved” hard, so it’s time for a new fresh class set of books. My students will learn valuable reading skills such as character development and change, bullying, friendship, family conflicts, and how to overcome challenges. Every student can relate to this book in some way or another, and Because of Winn-Dixie will engage students beyond what they expect. I hope they will be inspired to read more from reading this excellent novel!
