Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Describing what makes my students special is a question hard to tackle as each individual student possess unique charm, intelligence, ability and overall personality. As their teacher, I take great delight in sharing learning and growth as I try to achieve my ultimate goal of creating enthusiastic life long learners who work towards achieving to their maximum potential.

My students, in spite of the circumstances that come from growing up in a commonly neglected low socioeconomic community, have the same potential as any other group of children.

In their eyes I witness the brightest of sparks whenever they make a discovery or master a challenging skill. My students have a true and honest desire to not only learn, but also to accomplish and become a positive member of their community.

Unfortunately, this potential, spark and desire is often extinguished by the numerous odds against them as they repeatedly fall victim to their environment. I am saddened by the the massive loss that occurs in our community. I am angered by my inability to change this in the large scale of things. However, my sadness and anger will not stop me from changing this course for at least one little person.

My Project

My students need four paper trays and 30 Connect&Store Book Bins plus a dozen Help-Yourself Book Boxes, to create an organized library where they can easily access books according to themes and reading levels. After fifteen years of teaching, I've accumulated many children's books that are fun, beautiful and interesting. However, these books are not easily accessed by my students because finding them in my standard bookshelves seems not to be my kids favorite thing to do. Most of my books are left unread and unexplored.

Organizing my library using labeled bins that students can easily access, can give them a greater opportunity to explore according to their interest and reading level.

I have the books, I just need to organize them in a way that enables my students to find what their heart desires!
