My Project
As a Title 1 virtual public school district, our teaching program revolves around live virtual classes for a cohort of 80 fifth-grade students, further enriched by intimate tutoring sessions catering to 40 students. At the heart of our educational philosophy lies the steadfast commitment to cultivating a thriving and positive classroom community. This commitment has led us to pioneer an inventive sticker store concept. Within this virtual space, students are empowered to accumulate points through the demonstration of constructive behaviors, subsequently redeeming these points each week for premium-grade waterproof vinyl stickers. These stickers are then sent to them via "snail mail" at the end of the month with a handwritten special note from us, their teachers. The students love their mail from me and my co-teacher. They count down the days and send us pictures with giant smiles as they hold up their stickers. Their parents love it also and have told us what a powerful tool this has become. This multifaceted initiative not only amplifies academic engagement but also fosters a profound sense of collective purpose and emotional well-being among our diverse student body. Our students know how much we care about them. This also helps our class management because it becomes all about respect. Respect shown to the teachers and respect shown to our fabulous 5th graders. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
