This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come to school every day ready to learn and explore. My students need mentor texts to explore people and events during the Civil Rights Movement. This school year, my students will be studying the people and events that developed into the Civil Rights movement. Students will read books such as The Youngest Marcher: The Story of Audrey Faye Hendricks, How Do You Spell Unfair?: MacNolia Cox and the National Spelling Bee, and Nobody Gonna Turn Me 'Round: Stories and Songs of the Civil Rights Movement.
