Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When I started teaching in 2021, I arrived to find a band of 4 students, an orchestra with 3 students, and some choirs with between 5-10 students. They were shy because a lot of them felt that their skill level dropped during the 2 years of online/hybrid learning. I started sitting in the cafeteria and asking students if they played instruments/sang before. I found that MOST of the school had been part of a music ensemble at some point! But many had given up on their music due to the lack of groups to practice with during COVID-19's peak. Since then, all the music groups have from 15-30 students in them- we're growing!

But we still have growing left to do.

These supplies will help us hear our music better, play our music better, and celebrate our music together.

The Uses:

-"ION Audio - Power Glow 300 Battery Powered Bluetooth Speaker System with Lights" will be used for choir solos on our gospel piece "How do I keep from Singing?" and "Shine on Me" and hopefully many, many more future solos as well!

-"Movement Scarves " will be used for "State Changes" according to quantum learning and also for students to have brain breaks and enjoy/celebrate music! Dancing and moving is so valuable for their learning.

-"ION Audio - Sport XL Rechargeable Portable Bluetooth Speaker " will be used in practice rooms where students can hear piano tracks on it while they practice for their All-State audition and weekly assembly songs/performances.

-"Bose - SoundLink Flex Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Waterproof/Dustproof Design - White Smoke" will be used when paired with the "Wireless VOICE AMPLIFIER" so that the students can hear me and their accompanist more clearly when all their voices are going.

-The Guiro and Claves for our jazz band!
