My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."-Dr. Seuss This is my favorite quote because it is so true. My students are not able to go to a real farm but through books and material they will get to explore a place they have never been!

Our classroom is blended with special education and title one students.

There are 15 students in the class. Eight out of the 15 have an IEP. The students range from three years to five years old. I have five girls and ten boys. 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students love to learn through exploring and hands on activities. Most of my students have not been outside of the city. They do not get to go on vacations to the beach or make weekend trips to a farm. With our farm project I am trying to paint a picture of what it would be like if we could go visit a farm.

My Project

With these materials my students will be able to read and listen to stories about farms. They will learn the different animals, sounds, colors, and foods that come from the farm. We will use blocks to build barns, fences, and other enclosures to put the animal manipulatives in. We will also work on positional words when talking about which animals stay inside the barn and which animals are outside. During this project my students will also learn how to take care of the animals.

Every child deserves to explore and experience new things.

I may not be able to take these students to a real farm, but with your help I can create the next best thing in the classroom. I believe it is important for kids to know that there is a big world outside of the neighborhood they live in. I hope this project will inspire my kids to dream big and want more out of life!
