Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students are behind in their academic progress. They have little help from home, so any learning gains take place in the classroom. Our school is trying to incorporate more STEM and Science projects and my students need the materials to complete these projects.

Combining STEM and Science projects will enhance my students' learning gains by connecting student interests through student experiences.

My Title I, First-grade class this year is very interested in building things and this project, which combines STEM and science, would allow my students to actually experience and practice concepts and skills, as opposed to learning that is based on theory or ideas.

Another goal is to improve my students' vocabulary, and speaking skills through their presentations orally and written, explaining their projects. These materials would give the students another way to express their ideas, and connect with the real world through science.

My Project

These materials will be used for projects that focus on force and motion, engineering, robotics, coding, and circuitry. I am trying to provide my students with engaging and meaningful tasks, that encourage classroom connections and friendships. I am also looking to challenge students in ways that they have not previously been challenged and help them think outside the box.

This project will hopefully develop a love within my students for science, technology, engineering, and math.

This will be set up as stations with rotations and task cards. Students must work together to figure out the best way to accomplish the tasks given.
