Help me give my students Makey Makey: an Invention Kit for Everyone, Makerspace idea books, copper tape, batteries and light diode materials to create light up circuit cards while learning the basics of circuitry.
My students are in their first year of middle school. They are eager and excited for all things science. Our Project Lead the Way curriculum provides students many opportunities to solve real-world problems that exist today and may exist in the future. This is an introduction to careers in science, technology and engineering. In order to create the best possible learning environment for my students, I begin with helping them to develop a growth mindset. This enables them to persevere as they learn from failure since all of their solutions are innovative and new.

My Project
My students are learning about design thinking in 6th grade science. These Makey Makey kits and accompanying materials will allow me to give my nearly 150 students the opportunity to learn the basics of circuitry by designing light up greeting cards.
Paper circuits will allow students to make a practical product that will brighten someone's day!
With Spring approaching I would like to use a Spring event like May Day to give my students an opportunity to pay-it-forward by making a light up greeting card to brighten someone's day. These materials will allow us to do just that while learning the basics of circuitry at the same time.
