This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager, energetic, and enjoy coming to music class. They have diverse family, social, economical, and musical backgrounds. My classroom is a place where musicians of any skill level can come together to learn and perform.

My situation is unique because of the large range in student ages.

I teach middle school general music, but my room also needs to be a safe space for Pre-K 3 and 4 year olds, kindergartens, students in special education, and grades 1-4.

My Project

I am requesting a durable carpet for my classroom. This will accommodate the younger grades I see in my classroom, but still be a flexible space I can use with older students. I have tried other methods for the younger students, but the very young students need the visual and tactile cue of a carpet to know where to sit and be ready for class.

This will create a safe, comfortable space for students to learn.

Students will be able to focus while we sing, dance, play instruments, and know where to sit will be an easier task for everyone.
