Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day happy and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach students who have special needs and despite their disabilities they are always trying to shine with their abilities! It doesn't take a special kind of teacher to teach special kids... my special students make me a better teacher! I start every morning with a high five and say " High five means I love you!" Building a positive community in a classroom of different kids!
I teach at a Title I school in Central Florida where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch.
I have some students that receive backpacks of food on the weekend and school supplies at the beginning of the school. I teach a class filled with students who have many different disabilities such as Downs syndrome, Autism, non-verbal, and developmental delays. Despite so many hardships, my students are happy and enjoy trying to learn new skills.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will bring excitement to our daily story and circle time. The circle time chart will be a wonderful daily review that will help my special needs pre-K students a routine way to learn! It’s a interactive way to learn about counting, weather, the date and more! The story books and retelling kits will bring stories to life. What a wonderful way to hear a story and be able to follow along with hands one pieces! I believe my students would gain so much during story time and circle time with new hands on materials and books.
