Circle Time with a Clean Carpet!

My students need a colorful and clean carpet to sit on and a teacher easel for reading books and instruction during circle time.

My Students

My students are the youngest scholars in our small inclusionary elementary school. We are part of a large and complex urban school district, which unfortunately is often overlooked when funding is distributed. We serve both general education and special needs learners and have a high percentage of bilingual learners as well. Our entire school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch.

Due to the small size of our school and the complex needs of our learners, funding is limited and often comes out of the pockets of teachers.

My Project

My students need a colorful and clean carpet to sit on during circle time! They also need and will also greatly benefit from the easel for reading books and whole classroom writing instruction. A clean and colorful carpet will provide individuals with their own space that is sanitary and comfortable. The easel will be used to teach and reinforce early letter identification and formation skills.

Both the carpet and the easel are essential to whole group community building and literacy development.

We spend a large portion of our day on the carpet and developing social skills and language and literacy skills. Having a clean, spacious and beautiful carpet will benefit the entire class and will support the academic and social development of these young and needy learners.
