This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My little 5 year old students come in to school so excited to be in school for the first time! The best part of teaching kinder is being able to witness the wonder and joy of learning through their eyes. I hope to help them witness the miracle of life.
Our school is located in an urban area and our children don't get much of a chance to see this real-life science take place.
Also, because our school is situated in a low-income, high poverty area we are a Title 1 school, which in our case means that every child receives free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
My students will be able to watch butterflies and ladybugs grow from larvae to butterfly over a few weeks. They will also be able to grow their own plant from a seed in the Watch and Grow Plant Lab. With the See It Grow Plant Lab they will be able to see how roots grow enabling them to see all parts of a plant. With these 3 types of life cycles we can explore how insects and plants cycle through life through observation, journaling, and real-life, hands-on experience.
Supporting this project will mean so much to my students and I.
It will begin their journey in science education with excitement and wonder and more importantly, a desire to keep learning more. Thank you for your support!
