In order for my students to use my teaching easel as their own we will need 1 teachers easel, 1 set of magnetic letters, and 1 pack of colorful dry erase markers.

As a Kindergarten teacher, I try to create a classroom that is inviting and comforting. I teach in a public school in an urban section of Pennsylvania.

Most of my students come from low income families and many of the students' home lives are stressful. When they come to me for their first school experience I want them to feel safe each day. My students and I meet on our carpet many times throughout the school day. We call this time circle of friends. Right now, I have a teachers' easel that is crooked and falling apart. I use this easel for all of my lessons to give my students the visual aides that teach them how to read and write. The students love my drawings and are thrilled when I call them up to help me write. Having an easel where the students can manipulate the magnetic letters to create words would be an engaging center for them. Many of the students are tactile learners and would benefit from a center like this.

My classroom needs a new easel that is visible for all of the students. An easel that is not only the teachers but the students as well, will bring a new excitement to my classroom.

Please help me create a classroom that is inviting and engaging where my students can truly feel like a circle of friends. Bringing something new to the class that we will use every day will spark interest and give them another reason to smile!
