My students need a new and clean learning rug! This large community rug will accommodate all our students, giving them each a personal learning space while sitting together for read alouds, calendar, end-of-day goodbyes, and more!
In just a few weeks, my classroom will be filled with 27 little inquires ready to begin their first grade journey! These students come from many diverse backgrounds, but will come together as a "classroom family" to create a safe and secure environment, where they will all have the opportunity to thrive personally and academically.
As an International Baccalaureate school, our students learn and grow through a global lens.
Through the school year they will develop skills to become motivated learners, affective communicators, and positive contributing members of our community.
Each year I am humbled by the learners that walk through my doors, and the size of their hearts and minds.
My Project
The learning rug is the center of a classroom community. It is where we get lost in read alouds, explore through number talks, and share our greats and goals of each day. It is the first place we sit together at the beginning of the year, and the last place where we say our goodbyes before summer begins.
The rug in our current room is over 10 years old, and has seen it's best days.
It is time for the new firsties to have a fresh space to learn, play, and laugh together. The rug we have chosen is beautiful and bright, showing a map of the world that is bordered with the alphabet.
