This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a diverse group of students in an international middle school in Montgomery County. They come from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own unique stories to our class. I want to empower my students to be confident and successful, while embracing their cultural backgrounds.
My Project
Our middle school has many Spanish speaking students, some who are just starting to learn English. It is so important that these students are included in science class and know that they belong. Teachers Pay Teachers has amazing resources for this, including English/Spanish word walls, English science reading with pictures, and Spanish science stations and activities that will match what other students will be doing in class. Science is a fun subject in middle school where students should be able to enjoy learning without the difficulty of a major language barrier.
