Ciao, Mia Bella: South Dakota Culinary Arts Program

My students need two automatic pasta machines and six white tableclothes to transform our FACS (Home EC) classroom into an Italian restaurant.

My Students

Passion. Creativity. Professional. Food is the essence of life, and food is love. Whose cuisine reigns supreme....our high school culinary class' does! Allez Cuisine!

The students in our High School Culinary Arts department are discovering the skills that can last a lifetime.

Apart for industry skills such as customer service, restaurant management, safety and sanitation, they are learning teamwork, dedication, taste of new flavors, and best of all the thrill of being apart of something greater. The Culinary students produced roaming appetizers for Parent Teacher Conference, currently offer Take-n-Bake Casseroles for teachers and staff; have been commissioned to cater this year's Prom dinner, and are practicing their Management and Culinary projects for ProStart South Dakota State Competition.

My Project

We are a new Culinary Arts Program in a rural town in South Dakota. Our class is really excited to put on our restaurant night during selected weekend. The students wanted to offer something our little town doesn't have: Italian food (most impressively homemade pastas!) We are seriously in need of two pasta machines! I bring my own personal manual machine in to class but we would benefit from an automatic machine that will attach to our stand mixer and speed up the process! White tablecloths will transform our classroom into a fine dining experience and help this Restaurant Nite be a success. Please help the students in the Culinary Department showcase their skills to school staff, parents, and community.

Students are trying to raise funds for their chef whites for the ProStart State Competition.

Our restaurant night will help for fulfill that goal. They have been working extremely hard and is determined to go all the way to nationals in Baltimore.
