Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school offers individualized attention and close collaboration with students and parents to ensure every student is successful. The school opened its doors in 1998 with a vision to inspire and succeed, and it has done just that. Accepting only certified teachers by the state of Florida and with a twenty-two to one student to teacher ratio, this small K-12 school has packed quite an academic punch!
My students are a mix of unique personalities and abilities.
They love to participate in extra-curricular activities and show their school spirit. Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
My Project
With so much of today's education being digital, students need a way to access these great resources. The Chromebooks will be used to communicate with their pen-pals in another state, participate in online learning games like iReady and Kahoot and look up information for research assignments and projects.
These Chromebooks will provide a way to differentiate lessons at levels that the students will be able to understand; providing remediation to those students that need it.
At the same time, they can provide enrichment to students that are above level and need more of a challenge. Our school is implementing a large number of STEAM activities throughout the year. Having this technology available to the students will further expand their interest in STEAM and engage them in a way that would not be possible through the use of just a paper and pencil.
More than half of students from low‑income households
