This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a title 1 school where 93% of my students receive free lunch. Most of my students are second language learners and come from low income families. My students are amazing children, they come to school every day ready to learn. Most of them lack the technology resources at home. My students are not reading at grade level and will greatly benefit from the new program the district adopted. The new program provides a lot of support for reading; however, these resources are found online using a computer or any other device which we do not have in the classroom. My students are eager to be able to use the new program. The lack of resources should not hinder my students learning.
My Project
Literacy is very important! My students are reading below grade level. Having four Chromebooks in the classroom will help my students be able to access all the various resources provided by the new language arts program. When using the Chromebooks in their small groups students will be able listen and read books online. This will help my students improve their comprehension and listening skills. They will also be able to access interactive academic games which focus on phonics.
Learning does not have to be boring.
My students will be able to learn the letter sounds by listening to fun songs that provide all the sounds in the alphabet. Music is a great way to teach new concepts in a fun way. All these new resources will be used every day during small group instruction and will engage students in their learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
