I teach English to an amazing group of 10th grade students. In my class, they learn all of the things necessary to not only pass their state exam, but also to function as a professional in the world when they graduate.
They have learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism, and traumatic brain injury.
But, they will still be expected to function in society with the same ability as their peers, and that's where I come in. I love teaching and I love my students. I wear multiple hats each day: teacher, counselor, school-mom, referee, and most importantly, motivator.
My students come from various economic backgrounds. Some come to school hungry because they haven't eaten since lunch the day before. Some show up after a very long night spent sleeping in a car. Then some show up even after they were abused the night before. But, the one thing they have in common is that they still come to school. They work harder than some students in the regular classroom because they know that is the only way they will succeed.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks in order to effectively complete assignments as well as learn more about technology. Technology is an important aspect to our society and some of my students do not even have access to it at home.
It is my job to introduce technology, help them understand it, and use it efficiently.
From everyday assignments to quizzes and tests. I believe students should be prepared to utilize technology in the real world.
Many of my students are visual learners and the use of Chromebooks will facilitate learning that can carry on to other subjects as well as life.
More than half of students from low‑income households
