This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Computers funded by you would be used in math intervention small groups. Math intervention teaches students targeted math skills necessary to do grade-level work. The goal for 3rd and 4th-grade students is to acquire the skills and become fluent in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Computers would make a huge difference in their learning.
Having computers would provide students with access to more fun and engaging activities online. Many students leave elementary school with negative feelings about math, so having fun is absolutely critical to learning and growing. There are endless possibilities for online activities, so the variety of fun activities would increase drastically with computers.
Computers would also provide the opportunity to differentiate within small groups. With 5 computers, learning could be even more targeted. For example, one student could be working on number identification flashcards with a teacher and all other students could be doing addition fluency games on the computers.
Students in math intervention small groups are determined to grow. Seeing their progress in math excites and encourages them; they want to continue to learn. Providing computers would allow our Eagles to soar even higher in math intervention.
