My Students

Our school is located in rural Arkansas with over 70% of students receiving free and reduced lunch. However, poverty isn't the biggest hurdle for my kids. Their lack of exposure to other cultures and experiences outside of our small town is their biggest challenge to breaking out of destructive cycles - to finding hope for their future.

With all that said, my kids are fighters.

They're tough and resilient. Many of them have overcome more obstacles before third grade than most of us will see in a lifetime - drugs, foster care, rejection, hunger. They are an inspiration to me, and I want to do everything I can to open the window to the world for them, to give them everything they need to fulfill their potential, and for those who choose, to go beyond our school and community to change the world for good.

If anyone can do it, my kids can!

My Project

Living in a rural Arkansas community can limit the life experiences of many of our students. Our high poverty rate only exacerbates the problem as many students don't have the money or technology to reach out to the world.

Computers will open the doors of the world to our students!

Virtual tours, digital pen pals, and other experiences will be at our students' fingertips. Students will also gain college and career computer skills on a daily basis through computer rotations. They will learn to read and write on the computer at school - the only place many of them will see one.
