My students need two Chromebooks to access engaging interventions as well as supplement our reading, writing, and math curriculums.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Young's classroom raised $513

My Students
In our high-poverty elementary school, I have 25 bright eyed and energetic first grade students in my class. Each of these curious minds come from varying backgrounds and nationalities.
Despite the many challenges they face both inside and out of the classroom, they long to be a part of creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Some of my students are learning English as their second language and others struggle due to learning disabilities. I want my students to have the resources they need in order to be successful. My class longs to hold new school supplies, but unfortunately many of their families cannot afford it. Nevertheless, the children come to school eager to learn and ready to persist throughout the school year.
My Project
These two Chromebooks would open windows of opportunity for my students to access online interventions and engaging activities at their reading levels. The Chromebooks will be used to supplement both ELA and math instruction. Students will play ELA and math games that are engaging and fun, and not even realize how much they are learning along the way! In turn, this will help my students improve their skills and close the achievement gap. Having a Chromebook in the classroom would not only allow students to use the programs at their own pace, but would ensure more students are getting adequate time to use the programs. The online programs have been especially beneficial to my students with special needs. They are able to work at their level as well as be challenged with some different materials. This is making these students more confident in their abilities.
The Chromebook would allow my students to have daily access to 21st century technology that engages them and increases their academic skills.
This will change their lives for the better as they become more successful in school. Having access to technology in the classroom would help bridge the achievement gap and provide my students with the confidence needed as they prepare for 2nd grade!
