Our classroom community is greatly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. My students are completing work at home via google classroom, zoom, and google docs. We have a regular set schedule to meet on zoom and for the most part, students make every effort to attend.
My Project
I work with a group of hard-working students who are trying to make the most of the distance learning. Typically technology gets in the way of students attending. Boston Public Schools has made a Chromebook available for every family which is incredible. As to be expected, sometimes technology breaks. Currently, there is a significant wait time from when families report an issue with the Chromebook to when it is able to get fixed/swapped out. I'd like to minimize the amount of learning time lost by having these Chromebooks available to lend out to families as they wait. My plan is to safely drop off the Chromebook to the family once they report theirs not working and then safely pick it up again when our district is able to fix theirs. This would greatly minimize days, sometimes weeks, of not being able to access our online learning platforms.
