I teach a diverse group of learners that come from a wide range of backgrounds. Over 60% of the students at my school come from low-income households. Many of my students do not have access to quality texts or technology when they leave school.
It is important to me that regardless of the economic status of a family that all children are given access to the tools that will help them to succeed.
School is a place where students are given opportunities to grow and reach the fullest potential. I want to ensure that each and every one of my students is given that opportunity each day they come to school.
Having access to chromebooks in our classroom will greatly increase the access to different learning opportunities for my students. Students will be able to incorporate more interactive learning at their individual levels each day. My plan is to use the chromebooks during our Independent Reading Rotations as well as during Independent Math time.
Students who do not have access to computers or technology at home will have more time to interact with learning websites that engage them at their individual level.
This will allow them to have the same access to learning as other students. In addition, it gives us more opportunities to incorporate technology skills into our daily routines. Students will have more time to practice typing skills, research skills, and other computer skills that are becoming more and more important as technology becomes more essential for their daily lives.
