Chromebooks Needed for Golden Opportunity to Become a One-to-One Classroom!
Help me give my students 5 Chromebooks to help them increase their reading comprehension and excel in hundreds of skills this school year by providing continuous access to online resources.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Entering middle school is always a huge transition. My students come from all walks of life, with different attitudes, cultures, backgrounds, thoughts, feelings, and personalities. They are all artists of some sort--- musicians, writers, actors and actresses, dancers, visual artists, and photographers-- admitted into one of the best arts schools in Miami.
With limited technology within our school, and a recent cellphone ban adding additional limitations, it is important to provide these brilliant minds with the opportunities they deserve to help them prepare for a successful future as well-rounded adults.
My goal as an educator is to ensure that I am able to foster and develop the flame within each of them as they embark on this new journey. My classroom is their gateway to deeper knowledge, greater understanding, and a more fulfilled life!
With funding always being an obstacle in education, I would love to find a way for my students to have technological resources at their fingertips on a daily basis.
My Project
It is easy to believe that students are technologically advanced because of their access to the internet, and their uncanny ability to Google everything. Truth is, many of them struggle when it comes to using devices for educational purposes. Although, I have been blessed in previous years to obtain some technology for my classroom, many of my students do not have access during class to utilize the online resources that assist me in maximizing their educational experience.
My students need Chromebooks to turn our classroom into a golden opportunity for learning!
I continue to struggle to provide one-to-one access to my students. The addition of computers in the past, has been a tremendous benefit to them. Using the online resources during class allows us to tackle many more Language Arts skills and helps increase their overall digital literacy. Chromebooks also help me provide a unique learning opportunity for my ESL students who use the devices during class to customize our lessons to fit their needs so that no learning opportunities are missed.
