Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students work hard, even if they struggle. They are kind to each other and understand that there are some in the classroom with special needs. More than 90% of my students are living in poverty, and yet they will still donate spare change to any fundraisers that help the sick or the needy.
My students deserve the best education possible, which is hard to get with the way our school budget has been so severely cut.
I want for them to know that I believe in them and in all of their potential and will find a way to get the supplies that they need even when the budget won't allow for it. They deserve to have a classroom that feels comfortable, safe, and like a home. We are like a family in my classroom. My students know that I take care of them.
My Project
I am diligently working hard to bring more technology to my classroom so my students can compete with other kids in the 21st century - (we do not have enough!) These Chromebooks are needed as a resource during group work. Today's teaching has changed. Teachers are encouraged to be more of a facilitator than a teacher. The students have to take their learning into their own hands.
With these Chromebooks, my students will be able to work with their peers and set up and present power point presentations.
Furthermore, they can research the transportation systems of NYC and how they have changed. They will also be able to play online games that will help increase reading and math levels. Furthermore, I will be able to split my students into 6 groups instead of 3. will allow my students to research books that they read to help with their curiosity and to enhance the stories that they write.
