My Students

I am a First grade teacher at Riverside Elementary and over the past few years it has become more and more evident that todays students are coming to us wired for technology. It is my goal to provide a learning lab that will allow my students to share their amazing writing skills.

I teach a diverse group of active first grade students for a public school in Washington, Utah.

My students share languages and traditions from all over the world. I encourage an atmosphere that promotes collaborative learning, where students learn by doing and sharing. A Samsung Chrome Book would integrate seamlessly with our push to incorporate technology into our classroom, while allowing me to utilize technology to work side-by-side with students.

My Project

Helping every student in my classroom succeed can be a challenge. My classroom must employ innovative tools to help build valuable skills while meeting rigorous academic standards. Having a Chrome Books in our classroom will create a modern and flexible learning environment, by taking creative software and apps, students will be able to generate questions with which to chat with groups of people located in another state, well beyond the reach of a field trip, use Microsoft office for writing, and math, and in the end will enable me to meet the challenge of taking technology to the fingertips of all learners in my class . With the Chrome Books I would be able to create oral math assessments and efficiently record student responses, help students create math movies to demonstrate and explain their understanding of new skills, lead small-group math instruction, and provide one-on-one tutorials for students who require remediation or challenge.

A huge advantage/benefit of having computer-assisted instruction in the classroom is that the computer can serve as a tutor, a friend, a teacher, a guide, and a cooperative learning tool.

I can only aid students in the learning process so far. The computers will assist me and act as a tutor for the students who are falling behind. I will be able to use data taken from the computer to measure immediate growth, to see where my students are falling behind, & see what the students abilities are.
