Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school population is a small representation of the rich cultural and socio-economic tapestry that makes up the city of Los Angeles.
My students are an intelligent, inquisitive, diverse group of young humans that are interested in learning about the world around them.
As 8-year-olds, they are awakening to the rich stories and information that can be found in literature and nonfiction text.
What makes this school so special is the high level of parent engagement with both the teaching staff and with their own children.
My Project
Having Chromebooks in the classroom will be a huge boon to my students' access to applications we use for reading, writing and mathematics.
At this time, the number of computers in our classroom is a limiting factor that hinders how many students can work on these applications.
In class we use a program that allows students to show they have comprehended a book by taking a short online quiz on the corresponding book. We also use Google Docs for final writing projects. The last program we use is a fun, interactive, online math application that students who finish early during math time may use. The Chromebooks would allow more students to use the online applications at the same time.
