My students need Chromebooks for the classroom, not one for every student, but enough for us to have one Chromebook for each pair of students.

My Students
Civics and Geography can often be boring, help me create an engaging and interactive classroom to fulfill their innate curiosity! Debating the merits of immigration, modeling the processes of the United Nations trying to avert a Global Zombie apocalypse, and writing strategic options memos to advise the national leaders regarding nuclear issues in Iran are just some of the activities my students will engage with in Civics and World Geography this year.
Students from all across Boston come to our school.
Our small community is filled with energy, music, inquiry, and project-based learning. These kids come from all kinds of backgrounds with greatly differing needs, so giving them opportunities to learn collaboratively and share is key.
This year, for the first time, we get to put special focus on the civics, government, debate, and geography aspects of social studies to help create a culture of critical thinking and debate.
My Project
Our little community is growing, which is great! More students can join our community. The downside is that our new classrooms this year are under provisioned, of which mine is one. I teach Civics & Government, Geography, and Debate. We're supposed to have one Chromebook laptop for every student to use at school, but this is a new classroom and we don't have the money in the budget to buy the Chromebooks. We also don't have a library or computer lab at our school.
This is so important, think of all the things you use your computer or device for everyday.
Because of their backgrounds, the school provided computer may be the only computer that many of these students have access to. By helping to provide these Chromebooks to my students you're not only helping with their access to academic material and their opportunity to learn necessary 21st Century Skills, you're also modeling the kind of community support and civic engagement that I'm asking them to become experts at by the end of the year!
We'll publish lots of pictures and provide links to our projects as well as some of their music performances throughout the year via our new laptops to show our appreciation and thankfulness for your generous support!
