"There is never enough time in the day!" It is a complaint I have heard from parents, students, and other teachers. That is true and transition time in the classroom eats away at the precious moments that teachers and students share.
We are a small community in rural Kansas that has the heart and minds of the students that we serve as our focus.
We currently trying to increase the amount of technology students are exposed to and utilizing within the school in the hopes of developing students that will be positive additions to the workforce.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting are eight Chromebooks. These invaluable devices will help my students grow in many ways, such as:
-develop keyboarding skills
-learn how to search online
-develop multimedia presentations on various topics (IE prezi)
This will also enable students to reduce the amount of paper we use in the classroom. With the use of these Chromebooks students will be able to respond electronically to reading response questions (via Kidblog.org). Students will also be able to use these during Daily 5 time in the classroom to do work on writing, word work, and listen to reading.
During the summer months I was lucky enough to have one of my projects funded through DC.
It was such a blessing and my students are extremely grateful. Unfortunately, that technology that I requested does not fill the need that my classroom has. With this grant I hope to engage more students and challenge more minds.
