My Students
I currently teach 4th and 5th grade in an urban district.
These students live in a neighborhood with limited resources at home needed to complete projects.
Most of my students are economically disadvantaged and need all the resources they can get at school. They thrive however, when they are given a project that engages their minds.
My students learn best when they are fully engaged and what better way than through the use of technology. Over half of my student body are English Language Learners who benefit greatly from use of online visuals to build vocabulary and background knowledge on current topics studied.
With high motivation and engagement in the use of the Chromebooks, my students will be excited to watch interactive videos and complete online lesson components that will enhance their subject matter knowledge. They will also be learning the foundational skills of navigating through the web.
Technology in the classroom is all the more important for our school when we take the online standardized tests this spring.
My Project
Students in my classroom will use these Chromebooks I am requesting on a daily basis. If my students have access to this technology, they will be able to complete weekly online components of both our reading and math programs. These devices will give students the opportunity to complete projects and enhance their learning as well as prepare for end of the year tests that are computer based.
These Chromebooks will open up many learning opportunites for the students!
Many do not have access to computers at home and will love being able to work on a computer at school. It is important for students to learn basic computing skills that will give them more opportunities in a fast growing age of technology.
