My students live in a rural Texas town. We are a low socioeconomic school. English is a second language for many of the students in my class. Many of these students have limited resources at home and very few life experiences. Many have not traveled outside of our little town.
These energetic second graders come to school every day so eager to learn!
They love to read, use technology, problem solve and make friends. And I love giving them the best educational experiences, materials and resources that I possibly can.
My Project
Our school is a Title I school. Funds have always been very limited, and one area that is always lacking is technology. We have a few computers in our rooms, but they are very outdated. So the computers sit there and are not used much because they are so slow and ineffective.
These Chromebooks and headphones will help me provide more of an opportunity for my kids to learn to navigate the world of technology and also use the many wonderful websites for learning.
Right now, the technology we have makes it impossible to use the internet to listen to stories, practice our math facts, and write stories. The old computers sit unused because the students are so used to them not even working. Help me put technology in the hands of my students!
