Since making the move to third grade this year, every day has been a new adventure for me. My classroom is filled with new opportunities, passion for learning and a thirst for creativity.
My students are absolutely amazing.
They are eager to learn and ready for what I have in store for them this year. My students abilities range from advanced to students who are in need of more one-on-one attention. Most importantly, my students want to work to the best of their abilities. The school is located within a community that is very supportive. I am so thankful for the supportive families that I have in my classroom this year.
My Project
My students need six Chromebooks, cases, headphones and audio cds such as Charlotte's Web and Because of Winn-Dixie. I am always looking for new and creative was to engage my students into the curriculum. I don't want to just teach from a textbook or a manual...I want to show the students that learning means working with "hands on" materials. And what better way to do this than through technology. My class only receives one 40 minute block of computer class a week. I would like to have access to the chromebooks in my classroom daily, so that my students can use them during math and spelling centers. They would also be able to use the chromebooks for research projects especially during our Native American unit and for our school wide science fair. I am also asking for audio cd's for two of the novels we will be reading in my class this year. I have a few students with special learning needs and they would greatly benefit from these audio books.
Donations for my project will improve my classroom because not all of my students have access to a computer or tablet at home.
I can offer my students an opportunity to use technology at school for their class projects through the Chromebooks. The students get excited when they get to work on computers and they become more engaged in their learning when using technology.
