This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students begin their day by reading and taking quizzes on Accelerated Reader (which is computer based). They are inspired by web-based learning.
Students at our school yearn for hands-on learning.
Lessons that involve a technology component are the most engaging for them. They are a 64.2% English Learner population, and 83.7% socioeconomically disadvantaged. They are a community of learners that thrive in collaborative settings and are excited by the opportunity to practice and develop 21st century skills.
My Project
My students will use the Chromebooks to advance their key boarding skills, as well as collaborate with their teachers and other students by utilizing Google Classroom and the full Google Apps Suite. Additionally, they will sharpen their math skills using Kahn Academy.
Student motivation and engagement will be achieved by using Chromebooks.
It will aid in cultivating independent learning as we advance towards a 1:1 solution. Many students do not have access to computers at home. Funding this project would give those students the opportunity to work confidently with their tech-savvy peers.
