My Students

"We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand... it is the lens through which we experience much of our world." (D. Warlick) In our classroom, students create their own inquiries and construct their own learning. Technology inspires and enhances this learning.

My 4th graders bring a variety of unique perspectives, talents, and strengths to our classroom community.

Like all children, they are eager to learn, be heard, and create. Our curriculum is built on the museum model, a model that fosters exploration and discovery, giving students a strong sense of autonomy, interdependence, motivation and a joy for learning. The museum school model is based on the idea that children learn best through personal exploration and hands-on experience. Teachers use workshop models for math, reading, and writing. Lessons are tailored to meet individual needs, learning styles, and interests. Every nine weeks, our school is turned into a museum run by student docents who share their knowledge and exhibits to educate, enlighten, and entertain our community.

My Project

These new Chromebooks will extend my students' learning experiences by: - providing Internet access for math, reading, grammar, and writing tools/resources for remediation, practice, and enrichment - allowing students to research and investigate our social studies and science curriculum content - giving students the opportunity to create interactive projects and presentations to share their knowledge in the classroom and at Exhibit Nights - enabling students to produce answers to their own inquiries - encouraging decisions about what is important and what they want to discuss and share in the classroom

There's nothing like a classroom buzzing with the energy of engaged, passionate learners who interact with each other and their technology to advance their own learning.

These Chromebooks will help my class to extend their own learning at their own levels, collaborate with each other, research our social studies and science content, present their findings, and make decisions about important information to share.
