My Students
Throughout the year, we do multiple research projects in my Family and Consumer Science classes. To do these projects, we need to reserve a computer lab and take the entire class there. These time constraints limit their performance and take away the opportunity to learn.
I teach classes in child care, child development, health care, interior design, and fashion design.
We do projects on everything from designing a house to preventing shaken baby syndrome. Our students can also get credit at our local technical college so they can work toward a rewarding career after high school.
We are a low income school district with great highly motivated students. They have goals and with this donation, we can help them achieve them.
My Project
Our students will be able to complete research projects and write papers and prepare presentations with these laptops. Right now if we want to work on a computer, we have to reserve a computers room, take the whole class down there, and hope they have enough time to finish. With these laptops, we could let the students keep doing research in the classroom on subsequent days. Many of our projects are also hands-on, so being able to continue the research while the project is being worked on would be of great benefit.
I teach classes such as introduction to nursing, intro to teaching, fashion design, housing and interiors, and a number of family and child development classes. Our students can receive certification to work in child care centers in the state of Wisconsin, providing quality care for young children in the state.
These computers will allow students to reach their full potential by taking away the limits placed on them by a scarcity of resources.
Having access to information will allow them to make their work all it can be.
