Chromebooks for Learning

My students need chromebooks so that they can use google docs and other websites to enhance their learning in math, language arts, science and social studies the classroom. We struggle to find good, working technology.

My Students

We are in a neighborhood with a shrinking student population. About half of the students in my classroom are on a permit, (meaning that they choose to attend our school).

The students in my classroom work hard to be cooperative learners.

I have a diverse classroom with students representing many different backgrounds, I even have a student who moved from Peru this year and speaks little English. My class has been happy to try to help him feel successful while trying to learn the language. These are a great group of learners.

I try to find ways to help all of my students engage in their own learning and on a level which will be most beneficial to them, whether it is through group work, drama, movement or computer-based learning activities. This can be a challenge but is so rewarding when it works.

My Project

Being able to have working chromebooks in the classroom will be beneficial for students. They will be able to use them to help with reading on newsela.com, math and language websites like: thinkcentral.com, and prodigy.

I would like to see students writing and collaborating using google docs.

I have been able to use some of these websites and opportunites on an intermittent basis when computers are available.

The computer has been a great motivation for my students to get learning.

I also have a student who is just learning English and I have been looking for ways to help him.
