Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come into the classroom excited to learn each and every day. They are motivated to learn and want to reach their grade level goals by the end of the year. These children love to come to school and they work very hard

The kids I teach come from underprivileged backgrounds and have faced many hardships in their young lives.

The majority of the students I teach come from migrant families, and most of the children at my school receive free breakfast and lunch every day.

My Project

Every day my 29 students use a Language Arts program called Lexia. To gain the most benefits from this program, students need to use the program for a minimum of 20 minutes a day. This program helps my student to master concepts they need in order to be successful in 2nd grade and to be at grade level by the end of the year.

It is nearly impossible to reach this 20 minutes a day for 29 students without a class set of Chromebooks.

My students also use other programs such as Accelerated Reader, which helps to improve reading comprehension, and Zearn, which is a math program designed to help my students with Common Core math. Again, without enough Chromebooks for all students, some students are left out and not able to use these wonderful programs every day, which they greatly need.
