My 6th grade students are motivated and excited to be learning while using technology! They are an energetic group of learners Elk Grove, California located in Sacramento County. We are a diverse school with students from many ethnic backgrounds, cultures, languages, and learning styles. Located in an old farming community turned suburb, we have a supportive parent base and community. Chromebooks will give my students access to their Google Drives, which enables them to write, produce, research, edit, and share what they've learned. As their reading teacher, I can give them immediate feedback while they are working in their Google Drives/Google Classroom. They love anything related to technology. Learning becomes fun and exciting for them when they can visit a website and play a game while learning reading, language, and coding skills.
My Project
"If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow." John Dewey My goal is to give technological access to my students during all parts of their instructional day to not only have the opportunities to show their learning, but also to prepare for their future.
Paper and pencil learning is archaic.
Imagine a learning environment where information is at your fingertips! With Chromebooks, my classroom is just that place. Chromebooks will allow my students to research, write, create, & review Common Core standards individualized to meet their learning needs. My students will have access to their Google Drive accounts where they can create slide presentations & have instant access to video, images, research, and websites for their topic. They also can create documents where they write essays aligned with Common Core standards. Our school also subscribes to a Common Core based site called MobyMax. It assesses students and assigns them lesson based on their assessments. Student, teachers, and parents can monitor their progress. It's a highly motivating and exciting program for kids. Also, students can learn to computer code at code.org and scratch.com.
The over the ear headphones that I am requesting are to better help my 6th students access information through the Chromebooks. Students will be able to watch videos, presentations, & complete audio projects without interfering with other classmates' learning. These headsets will also allow students to dictate while typing.
