We live in rural Northern California.
I teach at a school with one of the highest rates of free/reduced lunches in the state. On a daily basis, I am trying to teach kids, while also addressing some of the most basic social, emotional, and nutritional needs that you would expect the home to be meeting. I love the kids I teach. I feel that I make a real difference in their lives.
My Project
My students are starting their Passion Projects. They get to research about what they are passionate about, so having Chromebooks is key. Choosing what they are learning is very important to them. It creates buy-in and without realizing it they are learning not just about what they are passionate about, but real life skills. Not only do my kids get to research about their chosen topic on their Chromebooks, they get to make connections with other people in that field of study. We communicate with others via the virtual world. We have Google Hangouts, email, Instant messaging. We have so many ways we will utilize our Chromebooks.
