My Students

My students are a group of urban kids from various economic backgrounds who have a desire and motivation to learn and grow. They walk into my classroom with smiles on their face and do their best to be fully engaged in their work each day. The students are a close knit group and motivate each other to do their best.

These students make up a Title I school where 100 percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch every day.

They know their classrooms are safe environments and look to their teachers as not only educators, but mentors as well. They have a never ending energy and bring a brightness to any classroom they walk into.

My Project

This world thrives on technology. Students need to have experience using computers to increase their chances of being successful in the future. Many of my students don't have access to computers at home and therefore don't get regular exposure to typing on laptops, researching, or increasing their technological skills.

Having ten Chromebooks in our classroom will help my students build their writing portfolios and increase teachable moments and engagement.

When students are able to write in Google Docs I can monitor what they are writing and give them real time feedback from my computer.

This gives me the opportunity to teach important individual lessons to diverse learners as they are going through the writing process. This has proven to be extraordinarily beneficial to student engagement and learning.
