This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are smart, funny, caring and hardworking! They have been through so much these last two years, transitioning from virtual to hybrid to fully in-person. We've had to quarantine twice so far this year because of covid cases and they still manage to come to school every day eager to learn and be their best selves!
My Project
My students are all issued chromebooks by our district so that they can access online resources such as Google Classroom, Nearpod and Kahoot. Unfortunately, the funding for these laptops is limited and many new students are unable to get one. In addition, If a student's chromebook is lost, stolen or broken it is challenging to replace them. They need computers in order to access their every day learning activities as well as the iReady program which we use to help close the gaps that students may have in reading and math. I am looking to get 4 chromebooks to use as loaners for students who need them.
This is of particular concern this year as we have had to quarantine students twice so far this year due to covid cases.
Students quarantined at home without laptops miss out on up to 10 days of learning and fall behind their classmates as a result. Help my students stay on track by providing us with extra chromebooks!
