Chromebooks for 4th Grade

My students need Chromebooks to learn online documents, coding and web based research at this appropriate age, 4th grade, where we begin to learn in deeper ways.

My Students

We are an inquisitive, fun, smart and excited community of learners. We are diverse in every sense of the word - culturally, economically, racially, linguistically and in terms of our interests. We come together in the classroom to create a common learning community. Together we discover how our similarities and differences inform our understanding of the world. Our school is undergoing a big transition right now and we appreciate your support.

Our district is a "Gmail" district where all students have Google Drive accounts, making our students technology familiar at a young age.

My Project

We love Chromebooks in fourth grade! However, we share a Chrome cart with two other classes. This makes it hard for us to have consistent access to the Chromes. We would like to have a few computers that are always in our room. We have been learning how to collaborate online by reading, researching and writing using Google Read and Write Tools and Google Docs. We also use the Chromes for math practice using programs like XtraMath and ST Math. We also do "Scratch", the online coding environment from MIT. Now that all of our standardized testing is online, it is ever more important for us to provide all students with computer practice.
