I am a third-grade teacher in Pennsylvania. My classroom is made up of thirty, eager third graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. I am the teacher with the ESL-friendly classroom. I would like to accommodate more students who speak different languages.
My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.
It's important that I read with these children everyday in order to get them on grade level by the end of the year. All my students get free or reduced-price lunch and all these children love coming to school.
My Project
These Chromebooks will provide my students with opportunities to enhance their skills in a cross-curricular manner. It will allow them to progress in meeting technology standards. I intend on using the Chromebooks during Math and Reading instruction to provide an interactive lecture experience. During Reading, the students will work on their typing skills by using Google Docs for their final drafts of their Informative, Opinion, and Narrative writing pieces. To enhance their Informative writing, the Chromebooks will be used for research.
The program Lexia is a reading program that evaluates the student and then supplies lessons that will help to improve the deficits in their reading.
Lexia also helps the students work on vocabulary, fluency, and word building. The program is effective and fun.
The Chromebook will also help to support children who are having difficulty with math. The program First in Math starts with the very basics of math and progresses with different skills. The teacher is able to pick the online lessons, or the student may decide what they would like to do. There is the competitive side of the program that allows the children to see how many stickers they earn when finished with a particular game. First in Math promotes teamwork and a community of learners. Please help us get a chromebook for all students ! Thanks for your time.
