My students need more books to continue to fall in love with reading and 3 new Chromebooks so we have enough for everyone in our class!

My Students

I cannot wait to go into work every day to teach these students. They come in excited, motivated, and ready for the day. It's been so fun to see how they get into whatever we are studying. I consider it to be my goal to inspire them to love school early on in their educational career. I know when I'm greeted at the door with an eager smile, we are making good progress towards that goal.

Perhaps one of my greatest tasks as an educator is to teach students tolerance of all those they'll interact with in their life.

We do this primarily through read alouds and discussions.

My Project

Books open windows into the lives of people we may not have met or interacted with. Through providing rich literature to my students, they have become deep thinkers who understand the perspective of someone who may be different then them. We've learned about so many interesting people as well as countless life-lessons.

There can never be enough books...and if that's what it takes to keep my students engaged and loving reading, I'll buy them as many books as it takes!

Every time a new book enters our classroom a fresh "buzz" emerges and students are once again excited to read a new book.

Computers are also a high-engagement resource for students. We just received a grant for a typing club program for 3rd grade students at our school! We'll be spending 15 minutes a day working on our keyboarding skills, however we only have 28 computers in our room for 31 students. Getting these three additional computers will allow every child access to a computer during this typing time...which is a skill every child needs in the 21st century!
