My second grade class of twenty-one students arrives each day between 7:20 and 8:10. Most of them love order, have perfectionist tendencies and are many times unwilling to take risks. The students are comprised of middle to low income and all receive free breakfast and lunch at school. All students have backpacks but may lack the daily supplies for success. Our school is located in Montgomery, Alabama, which is the capital city.
I am always striving to build a sense of community within the classroom and provide opportunities to succeed for all students.
Some of the projects I am looking for this year deal with cooperative play, understanding / embracing culture and diversity, creative writing, and reading.
My Project
Now that we are all at home and students are trying to complete tasks online, we as teachers see the need for Chromebooks. Our students work on many programs at school, but really were not prepared for working remotely.
Part of technology when we return to normal will be making sure students are prepared for distance learning.
There are so many web based programs that we navigate at school. But, students and parents really were not prepared to do this without extreme teacher guidance. I would like to increase technology in all subjects for students to increase their technology proficiency.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
