So much geometry! So good to do on a chromebook! Individualized discovery of the processes and results of transformations is the first goal for chromebooks in the classroom.
My students are discovering math and learning the common core for mathematics and enjoying it.
This year I am teaching 8th and 9th grade mathematics. My school is a public charter school where my classes are smaller than average so there is time for each student to do discovery work.
My Project
One project students will be able to do is go online and use free geometry software. They will be able to do translations, reflections, dilations, and rotations discovering the rules for these transformations interactively. Another project will allow them to build their own triangles and see the relationship between interior angles and exterior angles. Then we will also be able to build our own proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem! It doesn't end there either. We can make angles and discover the relationships of angles with a transverse through parallel lines. That's just some of the lessons we can learn for just our geometry unit. Having Chromebooks will make this all possible.
Just geometry alone is is a great reason to have a resource like chromebooks in our classroom.
There are other reasons too. Math programs, such as Moby Max and Khan Academy, help students learn material they have forgotten or never learned earlier in their education. Having chromebooks available for students in the classroom is a great resource to help with differentiating for the individual students in my classroom.
