My Students

Literacy centers are my students most favorite time of the school day. They are disappointed when we are unable to have centers. There favorite center...computers!

I teach in a small rural district in Northern Illinois.

Our school is wonderful and places a large emphasis on technology. My students will be prepared for whatever comes their way in the future because we are teaching them to be proficient with technology at a very young age. Our school keeps up with the changing technological trends and updates when necessary and possible.

My Project

I currently have the largest class in my school and I have 4 computers in my classroom available for students to use. This is problematic because during literacy centers, I have 5 students in each rotating group. This leaves one student without a computer. Anyone who has ever met a 6 year old, can probably imagine how disappointed they are to have to do an alternative activity while the rest of their group is on the computer. I have this same problem when we do math centers. With a large group of students, having less than 5 in a group is simply not an option.

My project will make a difference in my classroom because all students will be able to use a computer during their designated computer time.

They will be able to navigate a desktop computer, which was provided by the school as well as a laptop computer, which is also an important skill. This is a computer that will be used on a daily basis and will be a great addition to our classroom.
