Help me give my students laptop cases to transport their Chromebooks between home and school during blended learning! I also hope to provide individualized supply boxes to minimize the sharing of materials :)
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I will be teaching a third grade ESL class. The group will consist of about 30 English Language Learners, ages 8-9 years old, with diverse backgrounds and each of them bringing their own diverse needs. Most students come from Spanish speaking homes and are emergent bilinguals.
There's a lot of uncertainty right now, but I do know this: I need to provide my third graders an online learning environment in which they can thrive.
Many of my students have siblings, and remote learning can be hard when an entire family is working from home! My third graders need your help to get the resources that will turn their homes into classrooms!
My Project
This year, many NYC students will be learning in a blended model. This means every student will be learning from home on some days, and will need to transport their Chromebooks to and from school.
I want to provide Chromebook cases so my students can take proper care and protect their devices!
Maintaining a functioning device is crucial for remote learning.
I also want to create basic school supply boxes for every student, so they have their own materials to use at school and at home. This will minimize the sharing of items in the classroom, while providing students the supplies they need when learning from home. The supplies I am requesting include art supplies, scissors, glue, and post-it’s that can be used to facilitate multimodal activities across content areas!
One major issue we faced in the spring was that many students did not have school/office supplies at home. It is imperative that ALL kids have the materials they need to engage in activities at home without being on a screen all day.
